Man assaults security after refused entry to store with ‘paper towel mask’

A man has been taken into police custody after allegedly assaulting a security guard who refused him entry into a Tortola store since he did not have on a proper mask.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the incident occurred at the Rite Breeze Supermarket on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

The man had allegedly attempted to enter the store with a paper towel held to his nose and mouth; however, the security guard advised him that the covering was not acceptable.

The man reportedly left the premises but later returned with a proper mask on and was allowed in; however, he aggressively pushed the guard, who slammed into a door.

The guard reportedly had to seek medical attention as he was left in severe pain.

Our newsroom was informed that CCTV footage confirmed the incident.

The irate customer was arrested for a report of Common Assault.

It was only on October 18, 2020, that a security guard at a nightclub in Long Bush received injuries to one of his hands after he was reportedly attacked by a man wielding a machete.

The man had reportedly attempted to enter the nightclub without a mask but was told one was needed for entry.
