Man shot on Zion Hill identified as Joel Samuel aka 'Joey'

The person who was injured in a shooting on Zion Hill on the western end of Tortola last evening, January 26, 2023, has been identified as Joel Samuel aka 'Joey'.

Mr Samuel was reportedly in his vehicle when he came under fire, allegedly from someone on a motor scooter.

Police had confirmed the shooting incident, stating that the victim was being treated for injuries at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Reports reaching our newsroom are that the incident took place around 6:30 pm.

Police had cordoned off the area as they combed for any clues to assist with their investigation.

It is unclear if any arrests have been made, as police had not responded to our queries up to the time of publication.

According to reports, a local male was driving his vehicle in the Zion Hill area around 6:30 pm, Thursday, January 26, 2023, when he came under fire from someone on a motor scooter.
