Matthew D. Daly allegedly shot multiple times to head

As investigations continue into the shooting death of well-known businessman, Mr Matthew D. Daly aka ‘Shorty’ on September 10, 2020, information reaching our newsroom is that the 55-year-old man from Fat Hogs Bay was shot multiple times to the head.

The bullet-riddled body of Mr Daly was found on the road at Spring Ghut around 1:30pm.

Rental vehicle found with engine running


According to our information, Daly may have been forced out of a rental vehicle he was driving before he met his demise.

The vehicle, a white Hyundai SUV with license plate RT 4593, was found a short distance from Daly’s body, with the engine still running and the driver's side door open.

Many on social media have expressed shock at the Territory’s recent homicide, the second for the year.

The first homicide occurred on Thursday September 3, 2020, when Mr George Burrows was shot in the head while in the bedroom of his Purcell Estate home.


The bullet-riddled body of Mr Matthew D. Daly was found on the road at Spring Ghut around 1:30pm on September 10, 2020.

Mr Daly was reportedly a father of 6.

He ran a food vending place close to a famous sports bar and nightclub in Free Bottom, was a former employee of Digicel and also worked as Marketing Director of G. Organic Herbal Center BVI Limited based in Free Bottom.

Police said persons with any information related to this incident are asked to contact Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque; directly on 368-9809 or via the Major Crime Investigation Team on 368-5682.
