McMaster advances to semi-finals at World Championships

Local Olympian Kyron McMaster has advanced to the semi-finals of the Men’s 400-metre Hurdles event at the World Championships currently happening in Oregon, USA.
McMaster earned an automatic qualification spot on Saturday (July 16) after running 49.98 seconds to finish his heat in fourth place.

He finished behind the USA’s Khallifah Rosser who won the heat in 48.62 seconds, Ramsey Angela of the Netherlands who ran 49.62 for second place, and Sweden’s Carl Bengstrom who finished third with 49.64.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 09:03 pm (BVI time) on Sunday, July 17 where McMaster will attempt to secure a place in the finals.

McMaster, who is the eighth fastest 400-metre hurdles runner of all time, finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics last year behind the three fastest hurdlers of all time.

That trio — Karsten Warholm of Norway, Rai Benjamin of USA, and Alison Dos Santos of Brazil — are also vying for podium finishes at the championships.
