‘Me highlighting a subject doesn't bring embarrassment to VI’- Cindy Rosan

Controversial talk show host and political candidate in the next general elections, Ms Rosemary Cindy Rosan has indicated she will not be intimated and will continue to highlight issues in the Virgin Islands.

Ms Rosan, who lashed out in a TikTok video of January 6, 2023, said persons were misrepresenting her words and that her motives to highlight issues in the VI are not to bring embarrassment to the territory.

'Don't come & attack'- Rosan

“Me highlighting a subject doesn't bring embarrassment to this territory, the actions that our elected reps and people that we choose to put in places of power to represent us… Their actions when brought to light is what embarrasses this territory,” she said.

“Not the media bringing forward our story, not the media asking a question. If you want to put me in the light of an activist, not me doing what I think is right for this territory,” she added.

Rosan decried what she referred to as a few local men who feel they have the right to tell her what to say and when to say what they think is important for her to raise in the public.

“You need to cease and desist with immediate effect and I'm very serious about that. If you want to have a conversation with me, I'm open to conversation, but don't come and attack,” she said.

On January 6, 2023, Ms Rosan used a live press conference to present rumours of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) being engaged in ‘appropriate relationships’ with media persons now hired by the Government. She also claimed that Labour laws were broken to hire the persons.

Rosan said she is not going to sit and watch the offices of the VI being abused and that she will continue to ask questions.

Gov’t says hires were lawful

The Government has since released a statement that the three persons were hired in accordance with the law and that the jobs were fully advertised, according to Chief Information Officer Mrs Desiree Smith.

“The public is advised that the hiring of two of the persons to the Public Service to serve as Information Officers was done in accordance with the Service Commissions Regulations, 2014 and section 92 of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007.”

The government said, additionally, the contracting of the third person to serve as a Special Adviser to the Premier was done in accordance with section 3(b)(ix) of the Public Procurement Act, 2021.

It is unclear whether any defamation case is being considered against Rosan.
