Mentally ill woman allegedly takes off with tips jar of RT business

A mentally-ill woman and a male employee of a food business in Road Town were briefly engaged in a scuffle recently after the woman reportedly made off with the business’ tips container.

In a video shared with our newsroom, the two could be seen on the sidewalk outside Courtesy Car Rental grabbing at each other’s throats, while what appears to be monetary notes could be seen scattered on the ground.

After a short struggle, the two separated and the woman proceeds to pick up some monetary notes and then walks off unpursued.

Another incident involving mentally-ill woman

In another video, the same woman is accosted in the vicinity of Cutlass Tower by a group of persons, including a security guard.

What appears to be a purse is wrestled away from the woman and given to another woman in the group.

A bag that appears to belong to the woman is then searched.

It is unclear what was found.

Meanwhile, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release on September 23, 2022, said within the space of a month, the RVIPF recorded eight incidents involving persons who either displayed behaviour of mental illness or are registered mentally ill persons.
