Montana Bans TikTok, Leaves Business Owners and Users in Limbo

Montana's ban on TikTok has left business owners and users reeling, as they rely heavily on the app for their businesses and connections.
The decision to ban TikTok was motivated by concerns over its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, and potential negative impacts on users.

However, the ban has raised legal and technical questions, and many are concerned about the potential consequences for businesses and users.

The lawsuit filed by TikTok users challenges the ban on First Amendment grounds, and some users are worried about losing their connections and revenue.

The push to ban TikTok has been underway for months or years, with critics citing concerns over user data, negative impacts on young users, and potential harmful content.

Despite these concerns, TikTok's user base continues to grow, with over 150 million monthly active users in the US.

The individual in question, who owns a small business, taught himself how to use TikTok after reading 60 books on marketing.

He believes that TikTok has helped his business to be more competitive with less advertising dollars, and has led to sponsorship deals with major companies like Benjamin Moore.

Despite concerns about data privacy, he is skeptical that the new law will actually go into effect, and plans to diversify onto other platforms.

He has had difficulty finding the same reach on other channels like Facebook's Reels, and struggles to edit videos without the features in TikTok's app.

He will likely hire an outside videographer to help and will continue to use TikTok for now, but will eventually push out onto other platforms.
