Murder accused Hasani Frett granted bail

Murder accused Hasani Frett granted bail

Hasani Frett, the man charged in connection to the early-morning killing of a man in Road Town on Sunday, February 12, has been granted bail.
The accused man was granted bail when he appeared before High Court Judge Thomas Astaphan last Friday.

Judge Astaphan offered Frett $100,000 bail signed with one surety. Twenty thousand dollars of that bail amount is a cash component that must be paid upfront.

Several bail conditions were also attached to his bail and these include regular reporting to the police, surrendering his travel documents, and subjecting himself to unannounced police checks, among other things.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had objected to bail but was unsuccessful. The accused is represented by defence attorney E Leroy Jones.

Frett is charged with murder, inflicting grievous bodily harm, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. However, allegations outlined by DPP Tiffany Scatliffe Esprit during a previous court appearance indicated that Frett was not the shooter.
