Natalio Wheatley Is Substantive Deputy Premier

Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Hon. Natalio Wheatley will be officially sworn in as the new Deputy Premier of the Virgin Islands for the duration of the Government’s term in office.
Premier and Finance Minister Hon. Andrew Fahie made the announcement via social media today, August 7.

"There will first be an official swearing-in at the Governor’s Office, followed by an official informing of the new Deputy Premier of the Virgin Islands to the public on Friday, August 7 at The Stickette in Long Look at 5:00 p.m," he stated.

This comes after the Premier had his Cabinet ministers rotate the role of Deputy Premier after taking office in February 2019.

Wheatley, is also the Representative for the Seventh District. He unseated veteran politician Dr Kedrick Pickering, who previously held the post of Deputy Premier, at the 2019 general elections.

In considering the current environment of the ‘New Regular’ living and working with COVID-19, the event will be carried live for the public to view. Persons in attendance are reminded to wear masks, and adhere to the social distancing and other health and safety guidelines.
