National Security Meeting Called Over Fatal Stabbing At Prison

The National Security Council (NSC) is expected to meet sometime today to discuss the stabbing incident that occurred at Her Majesty’s Prison, which left Nichail Chambers dead and three others injured.
His Excellency Governor John Rankin said in a brief statement today, May 31, that he “called a meeting of the National Security Council for this afternoon to review the incident and agree next steps.”

He continued: “The safety and security of the prison inmates, all staff and officers are an absolute priority.”
Governor Rankin further said he was “deeply concerned” about the events at the state penitentiary in Balsam Ghut and offered his “sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the deceased.”

One man has already been charged with the incident, a statement from Health and Social Development Minister Hon. Carvin Malone informed.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation is still unknown at this time to BVI Platinum News.
