Premier Andrew Fahie has announced that to date, all travellers who landed in the territory on December 1 have tested negative for COVID-19.
Upon arrival at the Terrance B Lettsome International airport, all travellers have to undergo a
COVID-19 test before they are allowed into the community. They’ll also have to take another test on the fourth day in quarantine.
Premier
Fahie said a total of 107 guests arrived on December 1.
“Yesterday (December 2) was day-two. So 88 persons landed at the airport and they all have been tested. By this evening we will know if all of them have tested negative,” Premier
Fahie explained.
The Premier was speaking today at an official opening ceremony for the airport’s new Welcome Centre. The Welcome Centre was built within a month this year and is the area where incoming travellers will be assessed and equipped with
COVID-19 resources before they are allowed into the BVI community.
The Centre is equipped with a lounge, swabbing stations, isolation rooms, restrooms and other amenities to ensure safety amid the threat of
COVID-19.
