Netflix Reveals Images of Prince Andrew Movie “Scoop”
Netflix provided a first look at their new film documenting the controversial Prince Andrew interview from Newsnight.
The released images showcase the recreated 2019 conversation between the Duke of York and journalist Emily Maitlis, with Rufus Sewell starring as Prince Andrew and Gillian Anderson portraying Maitlis.
The interview, extensively regarded as disastrous, featured Prince Andrew discussing his relationship with the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein. Netflix’s “Scoop” intends to illustrate the behind-the-scenes drama at BBC Two as they landed the significant interview.
The film’s cast includes Sewell's reportedly transformative portrayal of the prince, achieved with three hours of makeup, while producers hail Anderson's performance as "astonishing."
Photos depict a precise set recreation and costumes matching the original interview at Buckingham Palace, with one showcasing the critical interview scene and another capturing a moment before a question.
Prince Andrew emphatically denied any sexual encounter with Virginia Giuffre during the interview, an accusation he has consistently denied, despite later reaching a financial settlement in a US civil suit without admitting liability.
“Scoop,” based on the book by former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, narrates the story of the women who orchestrated the revealing interview. The film, penned by Peter Moffat, also stars Billie Piper, Keeley Hawes, and Romola Garai among the principal cast.
Moreover, Amazon Prime Video is also developing a series about the interview, with Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew and Ruth Wilson as Maitlis.
Look forward to "Scoop" streaming on Netflix this spring.
