New Appointments At Secondary Schools

Mrs. Vanessa Garraway has been appointed to the post of Principal at the Elmore Stoutt High School and. Ms. Natasha Marshall to the post of Assistant Principal for the Bregado Flax Educational Centre effective September 1.
Mrs. Garraway joined the Virgin Islands Teaching Service in 1994 and served as teacher, Deputy Principal for Academics and Acting Principal during her tenure at the Elmore Stoutt High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Florida Atlantic University, USA; a Diploma in Teaching from the University of the West Indies, Distance Education Programme and completed one year of the NCEL Educational Leadership Programme.

Mrs. Garraway’s responsibility as Principal includes undertaking the human resources functions of the school; examining students’ academic records and recommending placement of students; preparing and managing the Department’s Annual Budget; and implementing strategic plans for the school.

Meanwhile, Assistant Principal for the Bregado Flax Educational Centre, Ms. Marshall entered the Virgin Islands Teaching Service in 1997 and attained a Master of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Reading, United Kingdom. Ms. Marshall holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (Magma Cum Laude) from the University of the Virgin Islands. She also received the Premier’s Award at the Virgin Islands Stars in Education 2018, Ministry of Education Student Support Award 2016/2017 and the Teacher of the Year Award for Secondary Schools 2014/2015.

As Assistant Principal, Ms. Marshall’s duties include: assisting the Principal with the academics and pastoral affairs of the school; supervising the work and conduct of the staff and faculty; and deputising in the absence of the Principal.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture is pleased to have such capable persons in these management roles as it continues to provide quality education for students of the Virgin Islands.
