New BVI Ministry of Natural Resources social media accounts manager named

Karyn Alexander has joined the BVI Ministry of Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration and will serve as Minister Vincent Wheatley’s social media accounts manager.

“I am excited to welcome Alexander to the ministry and congratulate her on her new position as my social media accounts manager,” Wheatley said in a press release. He added, “I would like to also take this opportunity to encourage all persons with disabilities to strive for excellence; anything is possible once you put your mind to it.”

Alexander was born with Cerebral palsy, which is a group of disorders that affect muscle movement and coordination. She has overcome many obstacles and has excelled in every other facet of her life, according to the release.

Alexander graduated from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division with high honors and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College with honors with an Associate in Arts in general studies, with a concentration in English. She went on to graduate summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and media studies, and has also been a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Alexander said she is passionate about writing, especially about human experiences and social issues, and is enthusiastic about using information technology systems to promote products and ideas.

Alexander’s employment commenced on July 2.
