New Church Turns To Beachside Services

New Church Turns To Beachside Services

A handful of members of the newly formed House of Prayer and Praise Ministry have taken to the Long Bay, Beef Island Beach on Tortola as their place for worship.
On Sunday, March 28, BVI Platinum News spotted the lively group on the beach in the vicinity of the newly built public restroom facility and stopped for a chat with Pastor Christopher Meekly.

“The reason why we choose here is we wanted to get a certain location, but the finance was above us, so we decide to come right here and worship, we will preach the word, we will preach holiness, we will preach that Jesus Christ is Lord,” he said.

Pastor Meekly said the religious organization is roughly three months old, and they are seeking a home base for worship.

However, “there are certain logistics that we have to go through. We applied so we are basically waiting to get through with it, and then we can move into a building. But, in the meanwhile, we love God, we desperate for God, we want more of God, so we are here praising God under these cool trees. Our focus is meeting to gather like the early church did in the book of Acts and worship and exalt God.”

He continued: “We have been coming here now for about three months, and it is a challenge because we are not in a building, where we are exposed to the keyboard, the drum set and the mike that makes worship easier. We don’t have all of those as yet, so they understand, and we decide that we are going to start where God will start us, and we will go where God will lead us because we know in the future we will be able to acquire these things, but this is our starting point, and in life, there is always a starting point.”

Pastor Meekly confirmed that he is an ordained, married minister and is employed with the BVI Health Services Authority.
