New Market Square Project Severely Hindered By COVID-19
Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Hon. Kye Rymer has highlighted the important role the new Road Town Market Square will play in the overall enhancement of the city.
The Minister addressed the matter while speaking at the commissioning of the electric shuttles for Road Town’s park and ride initiative on February 3.
“Another important project in the city's centre is the reconstruction of the Road Town Market Square. The progress of this project has been severely hindered by the global pandemic COVID-19,” Hon. Rymer stated.
He added, “Nonetheless, we continue to persevere to see this project through to fruition. Upon completion, vendors and patrons will enjoy a 16-kiosk facility with restrooms and a small bus depot
The Minister pointed to ongoing projects taking place in the city, including beatification works.
He explained that a significant component of the Road Town improvement plan is the amendment to the Wickham's Cay Development Authority Ordinance (Cap. 281).
