New session of HoA starts Jan 24, 2023; Governor to deliver Throne Speech
With the National Unity Government of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) proroguing instead of dissolving the House of Assembly (HoA), four months out from a constitutionally due general election, a new session of the House will begin January 24, 2023.
The First Sitting of the Fifth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly is set for Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.

Gov John J. Rankin to deliver Throne Speech
“His Excellency, the Governor, will be delivering the Speech from the Throne,” HoA Clerk Phyllis Evans state in a press notice today, January 10, 2023.
The Speech from the Throne, which is written by the sitting government, sets out the legislative agenda of the Government of the Day.
The Throne’s Speech also represents the official opening of Parliament in many Commonwealth countries or the beginning of a new session.
