Newly renovated FLPS opens with safer facility for Trinity term

Children at the Francis Lettsome Primary School (FLPS) today, April 18, 2023, returned to a newly renovated building according to At-Large Representative and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL) who expressed gratitude to sponsor Unite BVI for funding the renovation project.

The Minister in a Facebook post today said, “This morning as we started the Trinity Term, we gathered to commemorate and celebrate the renovation which was completed over the Easter break. In addition, modern playground equipment and a basketball court have been procured and are scheduled to be installed in the coming months.”

According to the Minister, the school over the last few months has benefited from phased repair works which included the repainting of classrooms, electrical repairs, downpipe installation, works on handrails, installation of AC units along with the completion of the central courtyard concrete slab.

She detailed that the exterior courtyard was outfitted with drainage, in addition to the building receiving external windows and door installation with interior and exterior painting.

In addition to thanking Uuite BVI, the Minister also thanked BCQS International and STO Enterprise for their execution of this project along with the team at the Ministry of Education for their dedication and hard work toward completing renovation works at the school.



Unite BVI thanked for funding project

“It is said that gratitude is the greatest gift that you can give. Thus, I express profound gratitude to Unite BVI for partnering with the Ministry of Education and fully funding the entire renovation of the Francis Lettsome Primary School”.

She also thanked BCQS International and STO Enterprise for their execution of this project along with the team at the Ministry of Education for their dedication and hard work toward completing renovation works at the school.

“Let me also acknowledge Principal [Kesia] King and the entire team at FLPS. Your teamwork, comradery, and cohesiveness are visible. This is evidenced by your major victories and accolades over the last few months. National Science Fair Primary School Champions! S.T.E.A.M.azing Race Champions! Inter-Primary School Athletic Champions!,” she said.

Hon deCastro added that she firmly believes that all educators and students deserve to be in a safe and conducive learning environment, “That is why infrastructural development of our schools is a top priority! FLPS I know you will take care of your school as we continue to move Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead! Wildcats, always strive for excellence,” she added.

The renovation work came through a partnership with Unite BVI and the Ministry of Education to provide a safe and functioning environment for the children of the school.
