Nightclubs Reopen For Fully Vaccinated Staff, Patrons Only

The Government of the Virgin Islands has ordered the reopening of nightclubs; however, both staff and patrons must be fully inoculated against the dreaded COVID-19.
This is according to the Government’s latest statutory instrument that was gazetted on September 17 for the control and suppression of the virus.

It said: “The Minister, in the exercise of the powers conferred by sections 13, 14 and 15 of the Public Health Ordinance (Cap. 194) makes this Order. 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Public Health (Covid-19 Control and Suppression Measures) (No.4) (Amendment) (No.8) Order, 2021. (2) This Order shall be deemed to have come into force on the 16th of September 2021.”

It further said, the Order will facilitate the reopening of all businesses including all nightclubs and entertainment centres subject to certain conditions; “(a) all staff working at a nightclub or an Entertainment Centre shall be fully vaccinated; and (b) all patrons in a nightclub or an Entertainment Centre shall be fully vaccinated and shall provide proof thereof.”

The Order also said, before someone is lawfully detained for the above mentioned, “a person shall be required to take a Covid-19 rapid test unless the Attorney General advises otherwise.”

The Order was signed by Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Carvin Malone.
