Nine arrests but still no charges after fatal prison stabbing

No charges have yet been laid into the stabbing incident that resulted in the death of one inmate and the wounding of four others at Her Majesty’s Prison last month.
The police, however, indicated in a media release on Thursday that nine male inmates have so far been arrested and interviewed in relation to the fatal incident.

The stabbing happened on Sunday, May 30 during what has been described as a violent altercation among several persons incarcerated at the facility.

The inmate who died is 29-year-old Jamaican, Nickhail Chambers. Two senior officers who were on duty during the prison incident have been placed on administrative leave, pending further investigation.

In the wake of the stabbing, an ex-convict at Her Majesty’s Prison revealed in an exclusive interview with BVI News that during his time incarcerated, select inmates were inconspicuously made to leave the prison for minutes to hours at a time at the pleasure of prison officers.
