No matter how ‘Mitch’ behaves in HoA ‘I will forgive him’- Premier Fahie

Premier and Minister for Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie said despite how Opposition Legislator, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull behaves in the House of Assembly (HoA), he will be forgiven because of their strong family ties.

Premier Fahie made the revelation during the contract signing ceremony for the design development phase of the new Jost van Dyke Primary School on Monday, December 21, 2020.

No Disrespect in HoA – Premier Fahie


“We do not disrespect anyone in their District. I was in the Opposition for years, and I know how that felt and I told persons that I would not do it. Yes, we are the government, and yes the representative has his job to do and he has to push to see how far he can get.”

Premier Fahie continued, “When he passes the limit, it is my job to tell him that is how far you could go, we will take it from here, but not in a bad way.”

Premier Fahie revealed that he has a very close relationship with the mother of Hon Turnbull, and as such, forgiveness will always be a part of their dynamics in the House.

“So the connection is very close, so no matter how much he shouts and behaves in the House [of Assembly] at times I forgive him because of his mom, because I know he comes from good stock.”

In the same breath, the Premier commended Hon Turnbull for doing his duty as a representative of the people of the Second Electoral District.

“He has to do what he has to do for the people because I know Cane Garden Bay people are kind people. So I know in his genes, he’s a good person, he is just passionate,” Premier Fahie said.
