NSC meeting called over prisoner's death

Following the stabbing incident at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) that left one dead and 3 injured on May 30, 2021, Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, has called a meeting of the National Security Council.

“I am deeply concerned about the events at Her Majesty’s Prison on Sunday evening that sadly resulted in a loss of life. My sincere condolences go to the family and friends of the deceased,” Governor Rankin, who is responsible for national security and also chairs the National Security Council (NSC), said in a brief statement today, May 31, 2021.

Governor Rankin said the safety and security of the prison inmates, all staff and officers are an absolute priority.

“I have called a meeting of the National Security Council for this afternoon to review the incident and agree next steps,” Mr Rankin said.

The stabbing incident resulted in the life of 29-year-old Nickail Chambers.

And person died and 3 others were injured in a stabbing incident at Her Majesty's Prison on May 30, 2021.
