‘O.J.’ Smith leads efforts to rebuild ETPS Steelpan room

Following up on last month’s motivational speech at the Ebenezer Thomas Priming School (ETPS), Kevin C. Smith aka ‘O J’ an alumnus of the school and prominent resident of the third district, is staying with his community and making contributions to the school.
On Thursday, May 11, 2023, Mr Smith assisted in leading a meeting to put 'hands together' to provide a new building for the ETPS Steelpan room, so the children could have a more conducive place to practice their steelpan playing skills.

Mr Smith, who contested in the Third Electorial District in the 2023 elections noted that he has already secured corporate sponsors to assist in the project “as government cannot do everything”.

We need sponsors- OJ

He noted that already, Hon. Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) through his Skelton Group of Companies is on board as well as Clarence Thomas Limited Home Center.

Mr. Smith, a former Postmaster General and Head of the Trade Department noted that he is still reaching out to other businesses to help with the initiative. He noted that he is also keeping the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL) in the loop as she has also pledged her Ministry’s support.

The goal according to Mr. Smith, also a former CEO of Digicel is to give the school a brand-new Steel Pan Room and beside him other former students in collaboration with the Principal Mrs. Sybil S. Hodge are part of the efforts.
