One injured in 2-vehicle collision near Fort Recovery

A man was taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital reportedly with minor injuries, following a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon, January 9, 2021.
The collision occurred along the Sir Francis Drake Highway, a short distance from Fort Recovery on the western end of Tortola.

According to reports reaching our news centre, a Suzuki Jeep- bearing licence plate number PJ 1114- was headed in a westerly direction while a Toyota pickup- with license plate number PV 24576- was headed in the opposite direction when the smash-up occurred.

The pickup reportedly suffered a brake failure, which resulted in the driver losing control and the vehicle entering the lane of the approaching Suzuki Jeep.

The head-on collision resulted in both vehicles sustaining extensive damages.

The driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It is not clear if the other driver involved had cause to visit the hospital subsequently.
