Opposition members of the national democratic party receive second dose of Astrazeneca vaccine

Opposition members of the national democratic party receive second dose of Astrazeneca vaccine

Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition along with Opposition member Honourable Mark H. Vanterpool received their second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine today, April 22.
The Leader of the Opposition expressed that, “It is critical to receive the second dose of the vaccine to ensure its effectiveness.”

Getting both doses of the vaccine maximises your ability to receive full immunity from the vaccine. Conversely, receiving only one dose does not afford you with the full protection and does not give you the full effectiveness of the vaccine.

Noting the global shortage on vaccines, Honourable Vanterpool encouraged persons to not let the vaccines go to waste and to utilise all the donations received. “Vaccine supplies are becoming limited therefore for those vaccines that have two doses – it is very important to get both doses for the best protection against the COVID-19 disease,” Honourable Vanterpool said.

While expressing his support for vaccination, the Opposition Leader said he recognises that while vaccination is not a silver bullet it is the best shot at stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Honourable Penn iterated that vaccination is important and is only one of many tools to fight COVID and rebound from the pandemic. Adding, vaccination takes us a step closer to being able to live and work with COVID.

Honourable Penn urged residents in the Territory to do their part to protect themselves and others by getting the vaccine and ensure the second dose is taken on schedule. Doing so will help save lives and get us closer to the herd immunity needed to stop the spread of COVID-19,” he concluded.
