Paid Rapid Testing For Vaccinated Travellers

Vaccinated travellers will now be subjected to additional screening measures in the upcoming days.

Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Carvin Malone said on Monday, July 5, via a live broadcast, that Cabinet “Decided that in addition to existing measures, all vaccinated persons be subject to a rapid test upon arrival effective 12th July 2021 at a fee of $50.”

In a previous interview with JTV, the minister had informed that this was one of the measures that was in the works.

He said the territory was expecting between 15,000 to 20,000 rapid tests by last Friday.

This new measure comes at a time when the territory is experiencing an upsurge of COVID-19 cases, with the official figures now at 480.

Frequent Testing


Meanwhile, the Minister said, Cabinet also decided that frontline workers will be tested at least once every two weeks for the virus.

He said the category of workers include Police, Customs, Immigration, Prison, Sea and Airport Authority officers, as well as persons employed in residential facilities and other high vulnerable settings during high instances of the disease in the territory, subject to any advice that may be given.
