Persons are still flouting the government’s established protocols for the control and suppression of COVID-19, despite the continuous deaths associated with the virus.
Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Hon. Kye Rymer urged persons to vaccinate and adhere to the government’s protocols for
COVID-19 because “
COVID-19 is no joke.”
“I saw a video over on Jost Van Dyke on Sunday where persons were still partying; it seems like no adherence to the protocols that have been in place. So I just want to urge persons to be mindful that
COVID-19 is present,
COVID-19 has killed many persons in our communities, and we wanna make sure that the guidelines and the protocols that are put in place, that they are adhered to,” he pointed out on VIP Let’s Talk Radio Show last evening on July 27.
During the programme, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Carvin Malone revealed that the BVI now had 584 active cases, a major decline from the previous 1,604.
“It saddens me to report that as of today, we have a total of 31 deaths, we had reported 25 on Friday, and we are now up to 31 at this particular time,” he stated.
This means the BVI recorded a total of six deaths since the last update on Friday.
“None of the deaths reported has been vaccinated,” the Minister added.
He further informed that there were 32 persons released from the Special Care Unit, and roughly 24 were still hospitalized with the virus.
