Partly cloudy skies with 50% chance of passing showers today– DDM

The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is reporting that as a result of shallow low-level patches embedded within a moderate to fresh trade wind flow moving across the Virgin Islands, the VI can expect a moderate chance for shower activity around the island at times during the next 24 hours starting today, December 26, 2022.
As such, the weather forecast today is Partly cloudy skies with brief cloudy spells and a 50 percent or moderate chance of brief passing showers, and the weather tonight is Partly cloudy and cool conditions with a 60 percent or moderate chance of brief passing late-night showers.

The DDM reported that winds will move East at 22 to 37 km/h or 14 to 23 mph, reaching as high as 48 km/h or 30 mph during showers, as well as over open waters and in elevated areas.

Seas: 2.1 to 3.1 meters or 7 to 10 feet with swells reaching as high as 2.1 meters or 7 feet.

The DDM said a small craft and high surf advisories remain in effect mainly for the north and eastern coastlines of the islands.
