Partygoers not adhering to COVID-19 protocols on JvD – Hon Rymer

The party island, Jost van Dyke, seems to be living up to its reputation even in the midst of rising deaths and a COVID-19 spike in the Virgin Islands (VI).

Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5) said a video being circulated shows partygoers defying the mandated protocols.

“I urge all the party-goers to adhere to the social distancing guidelines,” he said on VIP Let’s Talk aired on Tuesday, July 27 2021, on 780 AM ZBVI and streamed live on Facebook.

“I saw a video over on Jost van Dyke on Sunday where persons were still partying, it seems like no adherence to the protocols that have been in place. So I just want to urge persons to be mindful that COVID-19 is present, COVID-19 has killed many persons in our communities, and we wanna make sure that the guidelines and the protocols that are put in place, that they are adhered to,” Minister Rymer said.

COVID-19 is no joke!

“We encourage persons to practice social distancing; we encourage persons to vaccinate, we encourage persons to also boost their immune system and to also realize COVID-19 is no joke,” Honourable Rymer added.

The VI now has 584 active cases and 31 deaths because of COVID-19.
