Pay Water Bill, Or Face Disconnection From October 1

Residents are being warned that the Water & Sewerage Department is recommencing disconnection of its service over non-payment.
This warning is coming from the Director of the Water and Sewerage Department Mrs. Pearline Scatliffe-Leonard.

She said via a press release on Thursday, September 16, that customers should settle outstanding arrears in the next two weeks to avoid being disconnected.

“To this end, customers are advised that effective October 1, 2021, the disconnection and reconnection services of the Water and Sewerage Department will resume. All accounts are considered past due and delinquent after 30 days from the bill date and are subject to having service discontinued,” she said.

Further, Director Scatliffe-Leonard said service disconnections would be undertaken for all amounts that are due for water and sewerage services up to August 31.

She continued: “Any service disconnected for non-payment will remain disconnected until all delinquent amounts, as well as a $20.00 reconnection fee, have been paid in full.”

The press release added: “Mrs. Scatliffe-Leonard said that the department continues to work in COVID-19 and that it is necessary that various services are reinstated that would allow the department to cover the expenses that it incurs.”
