This past weekend was coloured with food, fun and fanfare as the territory descended on Virgin Gorda for the sister island’s annual Easter Festival.

Gospel Fest opened the weekend of activities on Friday night; getting patrons ready for Saturday’s Cultural Food Fair as well as a car show later that day.

Honouree of this year’s Virgin Gorda Easter Festiville, Dawn Flax stole the show on Sunday when she emerged victorious during the Ralph T O’Neal Easter Hat Parade where she pocketed the grand prize of $1,000 for her design.

The much anticipated Calypso Show closed off the evening on Sunday, when Reynold ‘King Paido’ Philips retained his crown as Calypso King.

Winner of the 2023 VG Calypso Competition, King Paido and the first runner-up, Princess Dede.

Revellers were up early for the final day of the Easter festivities on Monday for the Rise and Shine Tramp. It was a lively start to the day to get patrons energised for the main event — the annual grande parade from Dixie’s Parking Lot to the festival grounds.

Here are some parade highlights captured by BVI News photographer, Andre ‘Shadow’ Dawson:
