PHOTOS of the DAY: Power move by Premier Wheatley & Deputy Premier Smith

The second consecutive term of a Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government now headed by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) seems to have reached a new high.
The Head of the Virgin Islands (VI) Government is in London for about two weeks, May 3- 13, 2023, and has received great reviews from the United Kingdom Government, both from Buckingham Palace where Dr Wheatley attended King Charles III coronation and Parliamentarians from both sides of the aisle- Conservatives and Labour.

Premier Wheatley was joined by his Deputy Premier Hon Lorna G. Smith OBE, the woman considered to be of class when she placed the country above self to give the VIP its governing majority.

The two top brass have met the Minister of States for the Overseas Territories Hon Frank Z. R. Goldsmith, among others.

During the recent debate in the House of Commons on the future of the Overseas Territories that took place on May 11, 2023, one Conservative MP praised the VI for the just concluded 2023 elections and described Premier Wheatley as a “superb Premier”.

The UK loves the VIP

The UK Government is very happy indeed to have a VIP Government back in power, despite the election campaign lies, and has said this both privately and in meetings in the UK and publicly in Parliament.

Now all the general elections 2023 campaign lies and unfounded rhetoric spread by the National Democratic Party (NDP), Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) and Progressives United (PU) about the UK not wanting the VIP back in power, who could not hold ministries, and who can’t be Speaker have turned out to be the biggest set of lies in the Territory’s political history.

The Big Lie VI style

At home, Governor John J. Rankin, CMG has stated privately and publicly that neither he nor the UK Government had anything to do with the resignation of a Speaker or two Ministers losing their portfolios to form a Unity Government.

One social commentator Julio S. Henry aka ‘Sam, before his untimely death a few weeks ago, compared the tri-party Opposition's lies to that of former US President Donald J. Trump (R), who falsely claimed the election in which he was ousted was rigged.
