Pirates & Synergy complete historic softball finals sweep

Pirates and Synergy defeated their opponents on August 19, 2022, to complete a historic double sweep in the 2022 Terrence 'Chino' Chinnery National Fast Pitch League at E. Walwyn Brewley Ballpark in Long Bush.

Pirates, with the likes of Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) and Deputy Speaker and At Large Representative Hon Neville A. Smith, demolished defending champions Power Outage 11-1 and women’s team Synergy made light work of 2017 champions That’s Ya Problem 18-8.

Mercy rule!

The game between Pirates and Power Outage was called off by mercy rule in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Dariel Robinson aka ‘Robbie’ was brought in to relieve Jeremy Penn aka ‘Chicken’ and the Pirates scored 7 runs by hitting doubles and triples, clearing the bases every time.

Hon Neville A. Smith won Best Pitcher

Legendary softball pitcher Honourable Neville A. Smith (AL) rolled back the years with a heroic performance for Pirates, after striking out almost 10 batters during the 2022 National Fast Pitch League clean sweep.

“I’m happy for the team, I always wanted to bring it back home, and this one is for Chino,” Best Pitcher Hon Smith remarked.

Jamal Allen aka ‘Lefty’ scored the only run for Power Outage hitting a triple in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Synergy emphatically defend championship

In the Women’s Final between Synergy and That’s Ya Problem, the latter scored 5 runs in the first inning with hits by Kaynesha Stoutt, Tyalia Nibbs, Tamara Phillip and Valissia Brathwaite.

As the game continued, the Synergy bats continued to stroke hits as Claury Scatliffe aka ‘Clo’ had two in-the-park home runs.

Darier Malone accounted for a double, and Makeda Fahie had a single as defending champions Synergy came out 18-8 winners.
