The Minister gave that indication during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new One Mart Superstore on November 4, 2020, in Fat Hogs Bay.
He said the project has been a topic of discussion for some time now.
“This undoubtedly will raise the stakes. We are right here on the bay, and this area has lots of big plans. We have a harbour development project that we have been speaking about for many, many years and we have started some work on it, and I have renewed vigour to be able to get this project up and running, and it will be a project which will be investor-driven.”
Minister for Education Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries, and Agriculture, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley said Government has revitalised plans for the development of a harbour in Fat Hogs Bay.
Dr Wheatley said he was happy that Honourable Vanterpool had entered into the Fat Hogs Bay community “because he can be a part of something special happening down there and when we establish a major marina down there, he will help to provision the boats. We have revitalised plans for this harbour project,” he further said.
The Minister did not provide any other details on the government’s plans for the undertaking or when he expects that it will officially commence; however, during a meeting at The Stickit in Long Look on July 20, 2020, he had said government was contemplating a significant development for the area.
At that time, he said residents would be given the opportunity to have their say in the project.
Among the benefits, he said, would be critical economic activities for the district.
