Police arrest two men, seize two firearms

The police have arrested and charged two men who were found carrying two unlicensed firearms. The weapons were seized in two separate incidents on October 1 and 2.
In the first incident on Friday, October 2, police officers stopped and searched 19-year-old T’Quan Bodkin at the Road Town Ferry Terminal.

The police said Bodkin, who is of a Huntums Ghut address, smelled strongly of cannabis and was acting suspiciously. He was found with a loaded unlicensed firearm for which he was subsequently arrested and charged.

In the second incident on Saturday, October 3, police officers who were on patrol in Trellis Bay on Beef Island, stopped and searched 24-year-old Kenaz Hazel of a Purcell Estate address. Hazel - who has had previous run-ins with the law - was found with a loaded, unlicensed firearm and rounds of ammunition.

He was arrested and brought to Road Town Police Station where he was charged.

Both men will appear before the Magistrate on the next available court date.
