Police seeking help to identify getaway scooter rider

Police at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are seeking the public's help to identify a speeding scooter ridder, who broke traffic laws then proceeded to speed into oncoming traffic.

Police in a statement released via social media with an accoupling video said, “Help us stop this kind of madness and identify the motor scooter rider in this video. This scooter rider ran the stoplight at Pasea Estate and began traveling towards oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane of Walter James Francis Drive.”

The force added, “He risked the lives of so many in this reckless act all to avoid being stopped or caught by Police. Any number of persons, drivers and passengers including the one on the back of the scooter, could have been seriously injured or killed.”

Officers said helping to identify the rise will send a clear message to anyone else who would choose to callously endanger lives in this way.

Persons are being encouraged to call Sergeant Kishon Leslie in the Road Policing Unit directly at 368-9811 with the identity of the rider.
