Police tracking down group of men suspected of illegal entry

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the Department of Immigration are actively pursuing about 6 to 8 men who entered the Territory yesterday morning, August 22, 2020, and docked at Alfredo Delville Marina in West End, Tortola.

Sources within the RVIPF said the group was seen in a vessel travelling at a "very fast rate" from the direction of St John, US Virgin Islands (USVI).

Eyewitnesses said the men also had a motorcycle onboard the vessel.

By the time law enforcement arrived at the dock; however, the men had already made their escape in two vehicles, one described as a grey pickup truck, which they had attached a dinghy.

One reportedly fled on the motorcycle with a large duffle bag on his back.

More details will be provided as they come in.

The recent spike in positive COVID-19 cases in the Virgin Islands is being attributed to illegal entry.
