Powerboat burns in Sea Cows Bay

Sometime after 3:30 AM this morning, Sunday, January 29, 2023, a powerboat caught fire and sustained significant damage in Sea Cows Bay.

The boat was on dry dock across from De La Santa Bakery in the area where Struggling Man was once located.

The circumstances surrounding the origin of the fire are unclear at this time.

Chief Fire Officer Zebalon A. McLean told our news centre the call about the fire was received at 3:45 AM.

He said a white vessel with two outboard engines attached received major fire damage; however, fire officers were able to save the powerboat from complete destruction.

No injuries were reported.

“Investigations continue,” Mr McLean stated.

It is unclear who owns the powerboat.

Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services officers responded to the fire and were able to save the vessel from being completely destroyed this morning, January 29, 2023.
