Predators Infiltrate Children's TV Network, Reports Daily Mail

The Daily Mail has discovered that the Nickelodeon TV channel, owned by Paramount, has been associated with seven individuals facing serious sexual misconduct allegations, including five convicted child molesters.
One production assistant openly admitted to being a pedophile. Despite previous convictions, some were hired, exposing a critical lapse in background checks.

A recent HBO documentary highlights three of these convicts, revealing deep issues within the children's entertainment sector. Notable cases include Brian Peck, an acting coach who abused a Nickelodeon actor and later found employment with Disney Channel, and Jason Handy, who was convicted of sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography.

Animator Ezell Channel, despite a prior conviction, was hired and later imprisoned for molesting a minor on set. Talent agent Marty Weiss and actor Cody Longo were also convicted of sexual offenses against children.

In 2012, California required background checks for those working with child actors, but enforcement remains weak, allowing convicted pedophiles to continue finding work in Hollywood, according to documentary filmmaker Gabe Hoffman. This lack of oversight risks further abuse in the industry.

Nickelodeon has responded, asserting their commitment to a safe workplace and investigating complaints. This issue extends beyond Nickelodeon, with similar arrests at Disney World, indicating a broader problem within children's entertainment.
