Premier Defends Further $744K Contract To Quality Construction

Premier Defends Further $744K Contract To Quality Construction

Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon. Andrew Fahie has come to the defence of Quality Construction, a local construction firm, for inking yet another contract under the hurricane recovery loan funded by the Caribbean Development Bank and issued by the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA).
The company was successful in its bid and was awarded the $744,495.57 contract for the Hope Hill to Sabbath Hill Road Rehabilitation and Slope Rehabilitation project.

Addressing the signing ceremony on Thursday, September 17, Premier Fahie said: “I want to state that Quality Construction has won a few bids, but please let me educate the public, they work for them, they tendered for them, and the government didn’t give them anything.”

The Premier added, “I had to say that because there are some persons who are saying that and sometimes when you don’t correct that and don’t put the correct information in the domain of the public, misinformation becomes facts,” he added while offering congratulatory remarks to the firm."

Meanwhile, Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Kye Rymer said the project would benefit all.

“Residents and motorists in the area will recall the four areas where there are plywood barricades where they had been erected following the 2017 natural disasters upon the Ridge Road. As a result, it was very difficult for the safe passage of the two way traffic in some areas, particularly during the night due to the narrowness of the roadway,” Hon. Rymer stated.

He added, “Therefore I am pleased that through this contract, this road section will be rehabilitated and stabilized to make for safe passage for motorists and pedestrians.”

The Territory is still rebuilding back from the havoc of the 2017 hurricanes.
