Tomorrow, Thursday, November 11 is budget day in the British Virgin Islands.
That’s when Premier and Minister of Finance Andrew
Fahie will present the fiscal estimates for 2022.
The budget will be presented under the theme, ‘Strategically Positioning New industries with Sustainability and Innovation: Continuing to Improve the Standard of Living with Focus on Education, Small Business, Health Care and Technology’.
The budget comes at a time when the BVI, like many countries around the world, is facing many economic challenges, particularly because of
COVID-19.
Last year, Premier
Fahie presented a 2021 budget of a little more than $402 million. This figure was $12 million less than the 2020 budget.
The recurrent expenditure was just in excess of $325 million and capital expenditure a little more than $62 million.
The budget address will be brought live on radio and online on the House of Assembly’s official YouTube channel.
