Rehabilitation works to be conducted at Virgin Gorda airport
The BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) will soon be conducting rehabilitation works at the Taddy Bay International Airport on Virgin Gorda.
A pre-tender notice from the Authority said bidding for rehabilitation works will be open in the next three to four weeks.
The document said works would include supplying and placing granular material and 5,000 tonnes of hot-mix asphalt on the runway.
It is also slated to be grooved and painted with line markings on the pavement affixed to the completed area.
The works are scheduled to be completed by December 20 while the grooving and final painting of the airport’s runway would take place early in 2021.
“A bid bond or certified cheque in an amount equal to ten percent of the tendered price, and a consent of surety; and consent of surety for a performance bond in the amount 50 percent of the proposed contract value and a labour and materials bond in the amount 100 percent of the proposed contract value of will be required,” the pre-tender notice said.
The project is expected to last roughly five weeks and the BVIAA said bids meeting the mandatory tender requirements will be evaluated based on quality and pricing.
These include experience, proposed equipment, incorporation of local labour and resources etcetera.
