Retail Therapy: Martha Stewart releases cannabis line for dogs

Retail Therapy: Martha Stewart releases cannabis line for dogs

The lifestyle guru partnered with Canopy Growth to produce cannabidiol products for pups. Because they get stressed too.

It's been yet another weird week in retail. Martha Stewart launched a CBD line for pets, Jeni's made an everything bagel ice cream flavor and Kraft released limited-edition candy-flavored mac and cheese for Valentine's Day.

This, and more, in this week's retail therapy.

Martha Stewart's treat for good dogs

The pandemic has been stressful for everybody — and man's best friend is no exception.

As global cannabis sales grew 38% in 2020, per BDSA's market forecast released last September, product makers have been building partnerships and finding ways to leverage the demand for CBD products.

Jumping on the high rise, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart on Tuesday released a line of cannabis-infused oil drops and soft-baked chews for your furry friends, according to a press release. The new line comes months after Stewart launched CBD gummies for people.

Stewart has been working with Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth Corp on CBD products for nearly a year. The celebrity may be banking on the partnership to help her compete in a crowded field.

CBD, in recent years, has become a popular product in the wellness space. It comes from the hemp plant and is widely marketed for its relaxing properties.

The 79-year-old TV personality is taking that self-care benefit to dogs.

"My dogs are not only my companions, but they are part of my family, and I prioritize their emotional and physical well-being as I do my own," Stewart said in the release.

Her own chow chows and French bulldogs were the inspiration for the packaging.

All the soft-baked chews are chicken-flavored, mixed with either blueberry or cranberry flavoring, and retail for $19.99 to $24.99. The CBD drops costs $39.99 per bottle.

The CBD pet line became available on Canopy Growth's e-commerce website Tuesday.

Jeni's makes breakfast for dessert

To all the moms that told their kids they can't have dessert for breakfast, think again.

The sesame and poppy seed-sprinkled everything bagel we've all known and loved is now available as an ice cream flavor.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams announced on Monday that it is releasing an everything bagel-flavored pint of ice cream — and for those who were curious, yes, onion and garlic have been incorporated into the cream cheese ice cream.

Is it gimmicky, or is it pure genius? Either way, the flavor "you never knew you wanted," according to the company's Twitter announcement, is available on its website for a limited time at $12 a pint. Curious consumers can also get them in Jeni's scoop shops nationwide.

As with all things new, this flavor is getting mixed reactions on social media.

This release is only one of five flavors in Jeni's limited-edition "Ice Cream for Breakfast collection." Other flavors include Honey Vanilla Bean, Wildberry Lavender, Skillet Cinnamon Roll and Coffee with Cream & Sugar.

The company claims the ice cream is "acceptable to eat any time of day," but whether anybody wants to do that first thing in the morning is up for debate.

Kraft offers a cheesy gift to your loved one

Having trouble thinking of a unique gift to give to that special someone on Valentine's Day? Say less: Kraft has you covered.

In a press release Wednesday, the company announced the launch of Candy Kraft Mac & Cheese, which includes a candy-flavored packet that turns the dish pink. The company claims it tastes like candy.

This Valentine's Day, a thousand "lucky lovebirds" have a chance to win a limited-edition Candy Kraft Macaroni & Cheese kit. Winners will receive the kit by Feb. 14.

Nothing says "I love you" more than sharing a bowl of pink mac and cheese.
