Retaining wall collapses @ Brady Ghut

Retaining wall collapses @ Brady Ghut

Rainfall from the passage of Tropical Storm Earl over the weekend reportedly caused a retaining wall to collapse at a private residence at Brady Ghut, on the eastern end of Tortola.

The wall collapsed onto a road, which was left blocked for some time.

A utility pole fell as a result of the wall coming down and an SUV also nearly tumbled onto the road.

No one was reportedly hurt.

Poorly constructed wall?

Meanwhile, the owner of the property where the wall fell, Mr James Pickering aka 'Deadman', said the wall was constructed by Public Works Department (PWD) over 10 years ago.

Mr Pickering also suggested the wall was poorly constructed.

The concrete and soil ended up blocking the road at Brady Ghut.

A utility pole was also brought down when the retaining wall collapsed.

Luckily, no one was injured when a retaining wall collapsed at Brady Ghut at the weekend.
