Rikkoi A. R. Brathwaite closes out Commonwealth Games after 100m Semi-Finals

Virgin Islands (VI) sprinter Rikkoi A. R. Brathwaite has closed out his Commonwealth Games debut after making it to the Semi-Finals of the Men’s 100m but failing to advance to the finals at Birmingham 2022.
Rikkoi crossed the line in 4th place in Group 1 of 3 with a time of 10.31, however, failed to qualify for the next round where the first 2 sprinters in each heat and the next 2 fastest advances to the final for a total of 8 finalists.

In comments after the 100m race, the VI sprinter said, “Of course it wasn’t the race I wanted, I felt fine, just have some tweaks to do, its part of the game so I just have to get back at it.”

He said, however, that he will still be competing in more tournaments outside of Birmingham 2022, before the end of the season.

Rikkoi’s time placed him 14/27 in the field of semifinalists and was a commendable effort in his heat as part of his representation for team VI.
