Proposal Introduced for $250 Bill Featuring Donald Trump

South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson suggests new high-denomination bill featuring former President Donald Trump.
South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson has proposed legislation to introduce a $250 bill featuring the face of former President Donald Trump.

If approved, this would mark the first time a living current or former president has been depicted on U.S. currency.

Wilson stated that the proposal is a response to inflation concerns, which critics have attributed to economic policies implemented during the Biden administration.

Inflation peaked at 9.1 percent in mid-2022, the highest in four decades, before declining to 3 percent in 2025. Rising consumer prices have remained a concern, particularly following the recent announcement of tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China.

Wilson announced his proposal on social media, stating that the $250 bill would be the ‘most valuable bill for the most valuable president,’ referring to Trump.

He argued that inflation has made it necessary for Americans to carry larger amounts of cash.

The proposal has generated mixed reactions.

Some social media users criticized it as unnecessary government spending, while others supported the idea, citing the potential utility of a higher-denomination bill.

If enacted, the $250 bill would become the highest-denomination legal tender in U.S. circulation.

At this stage, the legislation has not yet been formally introduced to Congress, and there is no timeline for its consideration.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has not commented on the feasibility of the proposed new currency.
