Ronnie W. Skelton in! as Chair of RDA Board; Jerry D. Samuel is Deputy

Founder of the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) and former Legislator, Ronnie W. Skelton has been appointed Chairman of the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development (RDA) Board.

This appointment was endorsed by Cabinet and will take effect from May 1, 2021. Mr Skelton will serve alongside Deputy Chairman Jerry D. Samuel.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) made the announcement at today’s April 29, 2021, Eighth Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly held at Save the Seed Energy Center in Duff's Bottom, Tortola.

Mr Shea O. S. Alexander will serve as Member and Sister Islands representative, Attorney Michael J. Fay as Civil Society Representative, Marquese Maduro will serve as a youth member and Bishop John I. Cline will serve as Private Sector Representative.

Premier Andrew A. Fahie made the announcement at today’s April 29, 2021, eight Sitting of the Third Session of the fourth House of Assembly held in the Save the Seed Energy Center in Duff's Bottom, Tortola.


Premier Congratulated new appointees


Premier Fahie said the persons appointed so far have the requisite requirements and a good understanding of the recovery issues that we face as a territory. He noted that they are all qualified and experienced to fill the positions in which they will be expected to serve and wished them great success.

Deputy Chairperson appointee Mr Jerry Samuel, a former public officer, is currently a partner at a law firm.

New Chairman, Mr Skelton, is the Chief Executive Officer of Skelton Group of Companies and is a former Minister of Finance and Deputy Chief Minister of the Virgin Islands, former Minister for Health and Social Development and former Member of the House of Assembly. He also served as a General Manager of the BVI Electricity Cooperation.

Hon Fahie, who said more appointments are to come, noted that the board was selected through a series of interviews and a process agreed to by both the Opposition Leader and the Premier.
