Greek Cypriot Faces Deportation Due to Brexit Residency Backlog

EU Citizen in Scotland to be Deported Amid Home Office Delays
Costa Koushiappis, a 39-year-old Greek Cypriot residing in Scotland, is facing deportation due to a delay in processing his post-Brexit residency status application.

Despite receiving a certificate of application from the Home Office, which allows him to work and live in the UK pending a decision, Koushiappis was detained and instructed to report to Edinburgh airport for deportation to Amsterdam.

His initial application for pre-settled status was denied, prompting an administrative review that remains ongoing.

Immigration lawyer Andrew Jordan highlights the need for due process, noting Koushiappis's contribution to UK society over his three-year residence.

His employer, Stuart West-Gray, supports Koushiappis's claim, emphasizing his right to live and work, but Border Force insists on final status confirmation.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of EU citizens facing similar deportation threats amid administrative delays.

The Home Office has yet to comment on the situation.
