Ukraine Engages North Korean Troops for the First Time

North Korean Soldiers Allegedly Involved in Ukraine-Russia Conflict
Ukraine has reported its first encounter with North Korean soldiers amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov disclosed that a 'small group' of North Korean soldiers were involved in an incident near the frontline, though South Korea doubts direct combat occurred.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the global community for its lackluster response to North Korea’s involvement, urging unified actions to prevent further escalation.

According to Ukrainian sources, around 11,000 North Korean soldiers were counted in the Kursk border region.

Counter-disinformation chief Andriy Kovalenko noted in a Telegram post that these North Korean troops have started facing conflict situations.

Despite ongoing training and presence of North Korean soldiers in Russian uniforms, Moscow and Pyongyang have so far not addressed these claims.

Rustem Umerov suggested that up to five units of approximately 3,000 soldiers each could soon see deployment.

As tensions rise, South Korea summoned Russia's ambassador, demanding the withdrawal of North Korean troops and hinting at providing arms to Ukraine.

The strategic involvement of these troops possibly includes compensation via military technology from Russia.

In related developments, the Russian parliament is set to vote on ratifying a mutual defense treaty with North Korea, initially proposed after President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang.

This treaty aims to bolster military support between the two nations in times of perceived aggression.
