Territorial At-Large Representative Carvin Malone has dismissed as “fake news” suggestions that he is under investigation in relation to the damning Commission of Inquiry (COI) report released last year.
During a press conference by the Office of the Governor on Tuesday, a member of the media asked Governor
John Rankin whether government legislators Malone and Vincent Wheatley are being probed by the police.
Governor Rankin said he would not comment on any ongoing police investigation and further made it clear that his refusal to comment should not be considered as an implicit confirmation.
Malone later wrote in a public WhatsApp forum that he has no knowledge of any active or pending investigations against him.
“Hon Carvin Malone has NOT been questioned or arrested at any time in the present or in the past, as rumoured. Hon. Carvin Malone is NOT or WILL NOT be restricted from being a member of Cabinet of
the Virgin Islands by instructions of the Governor or by the United Kingdom, as rumoured,” he added.
